How the Calculator Works

Our model follows contribution‑margin and cost‑volume‑profit (CVP) principles widely used by operators and FP&A teams.

  • Operating Profit: revenue minus COGS, variable costs, and fixed costs.
  • Net After Tax: operating profit after your effective tax rate.
  • Breakeven: fixed costs divided by contribution margin ratio.
  • Unit Economics: optional per‑unit metrics when units + COGS/unit are provided.

Methodology

We use contribution‑margin and cost‑volume‑profit analysis to translate pricing and cost inputs into breakeven, margin, and take‑home outputs. The model is intentionally conservative and surfaces the levers that matter most.

  • Breakeven = Fixed ÷ CMR; Safety margin = (Revenue − Breakeven) ÷ Revenue.
